The Barbican Horticultural Society, established over 30 years ago to encourage residents to plant their balconies and terraces, is lively, friendly, growing group of members who share a love of plants and gardens. Some are very experienced at making the most of the Barbican’s microclimate while others
are new to the Estate and keen to learn.
We organise events – talks from professional gardeners, garden historians and designers; visits to local and national gardens and museums; free plant swaps, and social activities. We provide advice on balcony and indoor plants, pests and diseases and information on what grows well, in what location. We are affiliated to the RHS and enjoy one free group visit a year.
Membership is open to all Barbican residents. The annual subscription is £5 for an individual and £8 for two.
To join, please contact us with your detals at barbhortsoc@gmail.com. You will then be added to the mailing list and receive the monthly newsletter detailing forthcoming events.
If you would be interested to join the BHS committee to help organising and running events please let us know.
