What is there

A large lower garden adjacent to Victoria Embankment (called the Inner Temple Garden) and several smaller gardens and courtyards, set amidst the historic buildings of the Middle Temple.

Good times to visit

Year-round interest, from winter/spring planting to summer wisteria and shrubs. Pond and interesting wildflower planting being undertaken to increase biodiversity.

When open, Middle Temple Church and Hall can also be visited.

Admission and cost

Free admission.

Inner Temple garden is usually open Monday to Friday from 12.30 – 3.00 pm (all year round).

The Garden Room (located on Middle Temple Lane) is open for breakfast, lunch, coffee and drinks throughout the day. Its normal opening days and hours are 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

Suggested method of travel from the Barbican

Underground to Temple (District Line) or 76 bus from Moorgate/London Wall to Fleet Street/Aldwych.

There are several gates giving pedestrian access to the Middle Temple, eg from Fleet Street, from Bouverie Street and from Victoria Embankment.
